About Anne
Anne Zarraonandia grew up in Southern California playing pick-up games of baseball, football, basketball, and tag at her local park. Anne began tennis lessons at 11 1/2 years old and competed in the junior ranks in SoCal and NorCal.
She played at Thousand Oaks High, San Rafael High, College of Marin (one year on the men’s team and one year on the women’s team), and UC Davis. She holds three USTA Senior Doubles National titles (with sister Carrie) as well as the # 1 US. ranking in the 30’s & 35’s age group doubles during the 1990’s.
As the lefty of the two Z Sisters, Anne loves to help fellow lefties with “secret tips”! Being lefty in sports can be used to an advantage if shown how! She calls it her secret power!
Teaching Experience
Anne has been a member for almost forty years in the United States Professional Tennis Association as an Elite Pro. Upon graduating from UC Davis in 1979, Anne taught tennis at the Marin Tennis Club. After that, she had a long stint with the City of San Rafael Recreation Department as Co-Tennis Director.
She is a member of the Marin County Athletic League Hall of Fame (2005), the Redwood High School Athletic Hall of Fame (2018), and the Marin County Tennis Hall of Fame (2017). Anne loves to say she currently teaches pickleball on YouTube!
Pickleball has become Anne’s new favorite sport in the past seven years. She is now the Assistant Coach Developer for NorCal USPTA (Carrie is the Head Coach Developer) and certifies fellow tennis pros to become pickleball teachers and coaches.
Anne is passionate about pickleball and enjoys teaching and inspiring others.
